Reflect and then move forward.

This short video will take you through a process to help deepen your learning and show you how to apply the thinking, so it will become more natural to understand, appreciate and value differences. The more your practice the easier this becomes. This is why some people call TetraMap a Life Hack!

Nature gives us a perfect illustration to understand how we are different, and a map gives us a route to follow so we arrive at our destination. A place we want to go. A place to feel confident and comfortable with. TetraMap guides us forward with strategies to – creating happier and healthier lives at home and at work and does not categorise anyone.

Apply what you discovered in this course by completing the reflection activity below.

Firm Facts

What happened in the teams you’ve worked in?

How were different contributions acknowledged?

Noticing conversations, word choices and body language will help you develop this skill.

Acknowledge the complexity of soft or human skills.

Calm Feelings

Reflect on the impact of good and poor team work.

Write down three soft skills you want to develop and say why.

Recognising behaviours and emotions, and responding calmly will develop your soft skills.

A discussion with someone you trust helps.

Clear Analysis

Consider two other situations where people may have different perspectives or priorities.

Analyse where the irritations have arisen and what caused the conflict.

How would you handle this differently?

Consider times when conflict can be a positive and respectful experience.

Bright Future

Imagine a new way of dealing with the experience or possible new experiences.

What would the future look like if our differences were appreciated as our strengths?

How will you continue developing your human skills and enrol others to join you?

Our vision is simple:

  • we want to help simplify the complexity of communication, collaboration and teamwork
  • we want to create a world where people value each other’s differences
  • and everyone lives by a simple recipe where “my success depends on your success”
  • somewhere we all humanity respects each other and our planet.

Making the most of what you’ve learned

We pride ourselves on the fact that we offer ‘sticky learning’ – that is, we’ve designed our courses so that the concepts stick with you no matter where you go!

So, as you go about your day, week, and beyond, we encourage you to consider:

  • How are you communicating with those around you? What words do you use?
  • How do the people in your team, or at home, communicate and collaborate?
  • Which words and behaviours do they use?
  • Can you take a guess at which element they (and you!) are how they prefer to communicate?
  • How can you continue to develop your understanding of soft skills?
  • How can TetraMap help you to take some further steps and keep learning for life?

Remember – soft skills, or human skills as we like to call them, are the pillar to creating strong teams. Learning to communicate and appreciate difference is where the magic truly starts!
